Here’s Eric’s post and Scott’s photo. Several of y’all asked so it could be shared. Love this new art project we put up at Centenary this morning in honor of #Pride Month and Pentecost. Caleb Walker and Amy Gerwig Walker donated the door (plucked from the dumpster). Marilyn N. Windham battled sickness to pick up all of the paint supplies, Emily Cadle spent hours painting it, and Sarah Pounds did the lettering. That so many hands were involved in this makes it so much more special. Love our community. And major H/T to my beloved St Paul United Methodist Church in Atlanta who inspired this project.

Pentecost conjures images of wind and fire, community being built, a movement being birthed. At Centenary we are learning to understand and interpret the unknown tongues of the diverse experiences within our community. Join us Sunday for a service of joy and excitement, power and mystery that defies the boundaries of language, as we are brought together in celebration of our diversity, as well as that which inexplicably binds us together. Tim’s sermon this Sunday is titled, “Pentecost: Celestial Fire” from the second chapter of Acts, as we celebrate the birth of the church and the continuing movement of the Holy Spirit in the Church and in our lives today!

A funeral service for Steve Hamlin will be held at Centenary Church on Saturday, June 1st, at 2 PM with visitation at 1 PM in the Round Room in the Sanctuary building. Thanks to all for your expressions of love, support and prayers.

It is with deep sadness that we share that Steve Hamlin passed away late yesterday afternoon from a massive heart attack. Steve was a deeply beloved member of Centenary and will be missed beyond measure.He will forever be remembered for his wisdom, his winsome smile, his love for people, and his faithful service to both strangers and friends throughout this community and beyond. Please hold his spouse, Andy Johns and the entire family close in your prayers during this time of profound loss. Details regarding services will be posted, once arrangements have been finalized.

A Mother’s Day Prayer By Rev. Andy Little Eternal God, on this day we lift up all mothers to you. Scripture has prepared us to recognize that by your grace, mothering takes many forms. We lift up those . . . … who have experienced joy and fulfillment in mothering … who have known the pain of a child’s death … who are facing motherhood again, or for the first time … for whom childlessness represents a loss … who have such unbounded love that they mother all God’s children … who lament their separation from their children for whatever reason … who mother those of the previous generation who are again childlike … who are the previous generation loving extended families Likewise, the experiences of being mothered are many and varied. We lift up those … … who have cherished memories of being mothered … who may have suffered abuse, neglect or emotional harm … who remember with joy being mothered by a broader community of women … who have experienced, or are in the midst of, grief for the loss of a mother or mother figure … who were adopted into the loving arms of a mother … who may continue to experience estrangement from their mother … who have been raised by their mother with deep, abiding love and respect for the feminine, including their own … who in the image of God the Mother find faith and comfort. God, we also lift up any experiences of motherhood or being mothered that have been left unspoken.

The return of the Alleluia! Easter 2019

Being the improviser he is, Jack Castle let a little air out of all the tires. This slo-mo video really allows you to see how bad that rear flat was. Fortunately, no crashes.
